Culture Shock
" When God created a man, she was only kidding." This doesn´t translate into finnish, because she and he are the same word, hän. What a pity, girls would love it. After all they run the show.
Finland is a matriarchal society. Finnish women were the first ina world to receive the right to vote. And they are using it.: they have a female president and a female prime minister. Half of the members of parliament are women. There are more women with a university degrees than men. The list goes on...
So what´s so special about Finnish women? Traditionally, they ruled over everything inside the log house: Children, animals, food, clothes, hygiene- and men. The men took care of the work outdoors. That constituted a sensible way to share jobs in arctic, scarcely populated country.
Finnish women are used to handling men. But they´re not feminists. They never needed to be, Because their female authority isn´t the result of a battle, It is a naturally grown thing. For better of worse: They are certainly not helpless creatures, but they think men are.
They are so easy to please. Just hold the door open for them when entering a restaurant and she´ll be impressed.Manage to maintain witty conversation before, during and even after sex and she´ll fall inlove with you. Give up your job and stay at home with her kids while she travels and she´ll marry you.
Finnish women complain alot about their men: "they don´t talk and they don´t kiss". Well, Finnish men Probably noticed a hundred years ago that it didn´t make much sense to argue. And who has the time to kiss his wife while he´s busy doing the dishes?
Finland is potential paradise for stressed males who hate to make dicisions. Here you can just lean back and let yourself sink into the lap of an intelligent woman eguipped with loads of willpower: She´ll manage your career, your accounts, your beliefs, your workouts and your colesterol intake and she´ll make you quit smoking. All you have to do is let go, relax at your future in-laws´ summer gottage and learn how to enjoy that all.
Enjoying it all might be the hardest part. The divorce rate in Finland is a solid fifty per cent. But even though things could go terrible wrong, fear not- not only are the women in finland outstanding, so is the divorse legistlation. Since there are no uneducated housewives, splitting up is relatively easy and fair. You pay for the kids, but you don´t have to pay for your ex-wife´s holiday trips. She most likely has a better job that you, anyway.
Finnish women receive less pay than their male collegues- for the same work. What a nice little gesture, and it all makes sense: the life expectancy of men is seven years less than women, hence women spend a lot more time living on their pension. By paying women slightly lower wages during their their active working years, this imbalance takes care of itself. Thank you, ladies, That´s what we call fair play! I suggest we run this into a directive for the entire Europian Union. What do you say, boys?
